Anyone who saw the movie “A Few Good Men” will have a hard time forgetting the immortal line mouthed by Jack Nicholson: “You can’t handle the truth.”
How prophetic: now the military-industrial complexers in the Pentagon, and no doubt throughout that sick little kingdom, are turning to leaks to get rid of Pete Hegseth, secretary of the Department of Defense.
Hegseth, of course, is a surrogate for their main target, Donald Trump, but he is also too young and too anti-establishment to belong, in their way of thinking.
The Wall Street Journal, whose owner, Rupert Murdoch, despises Trump, is happy to carry the torch for the military-industrial fossils working under Hegseth. An April 24th article, titled “Polygraphs, Leaks and Infighting: The Chaos Inside Hegseth’s Pentagon,” sides with the insiders.
The WSJ in the story cites an incident involving the leak of a planned meeting between Hegseth and Elon Musk with China being the topic. Hegseth, according to the Murdoch-inspired interpretation, got so furious that he yelled at the accused leaker, none other than an Admiral, and threatened to hook up the man up to a “f—ing polygraph.” He should have.
Hegseth reportedly then went on to accuse others of the leak and threatened them with truth serum (aka a polygraph) as well. Firings and resignations soon followed.
The story goes on to quote a Never-Trump Republican — whose credential is that he worked for none other than Dubya, aka George W. Bush, another Never-Trumper — as saying the incident shows that Hegseth lacks the “requisite experience” for the job. That is, he’s not part of the military-industrial complex and is not taking kickbacks from Pentagon contractors.
I’d post a link to the article, but WSJ bars public access. Subscribers only get that privilege (!). I am a subscriber but a suspicious one. I see Murdoch’s anit-Trump venom spilling over into too many articles.
I guess the WSJ can’t handle the truth that Murdoch Nemesis #1 is now in the White House with comfortable majority support among voters. Egads!
