Mike Trout, who has been dogged with injuries for the past two years, previously won three Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards as an outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels, but on Saturday night, April 12, he proved to be an MVP after the game as well.
Durfing a meet-up with the Astros in Houston, Trout was patrolling rightfield when a batter hit a ball just above the fence. Trout raced toward the flyball and grabbed it, only to have a fan reach into his globe and take it away.
Now, many outfielders would’ve bitched, moaned and asked for the fan to be removed, but not Trout. In fact, after the game, he asked if he could meet with the fan, who then showed up outside the Angels locker room to meet the MVP. The Angels star proceeded to give the fan and his son an autographed baseball and a bat to boot.
“I jumped in, it was in my glove and the guy just literally took it out,” Trout said afterwards per MLB.com. “He was really apologetic. I learn new things every single day. Once I go into the stands, it’s free game.”
First class stuff. Congratulatons and thanks, Mr. Trout.
