Trump Gives Basic Stump Speech to Top Military Brass; Urges Training to Be Done in U.S. ‘Dangerous Cities’

Does Donald Trump have a speechwriter? If he does, that person must be completely brainwashed or browbeaten or both.

Why is it that his boss, the president of the United States, gives virtually the same speech regardless of the occasion and regardless of the audience?

Case in point: Secretary of Defense/War Pete Hegseth decided last week to assemble the nation’s top military brass for a “pep rally,” to use a euphemism. Of course, Donald Trump couldn’t let the opportunity pass him by, so he immediately announced that he’d be joining the proceedings.

The pep rally took place this morning in Quantico, Virginia. Hegseth had already finished his talk when I got up at about 6 a.m. Pacific Time, but Trump was still en route, so I was able to watch his talk on TV.

According to reports, Hegseth focused on a 10-point program that, in summary, emphasized high physical fitness and appearance standards, the elimination of “wokeism” in the armed forces, and recruitment and promotions based on merit rather than on DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).

“When it comes to any job that requires physical power to perform in combat, those physical standards must be high and gender-neutral,” Hegseth said in an oft-retelevised comment. “If that means no women qualify for some combat jobs, so be it.”

Trump, in the portion of his speech directed at the military, said the armed forces’ job now includes focusing on “the enemy within,” which includes drug cartels and other threats to the nation’s well-being.

“The military is now the knife’s edge in combating this sinister enemy,” Trump said. “We have to put the traffickers and cartels on notice.”

He seemed to imply that armed forces could be used on land against this “sinister enemy” and not be limited to air strikes at sea to take down narco-trafficking boats.

Trump also announced that the military could be trained in America’s “dangerous cities.”

“I told Pete we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military—National Guard, but military—because we’re going into Chicago very soon,” he said.

Has the president read the Posse Comitatus Act? Just a thought….
