On the Anniversary of 9/11, We All Should Remember the Unity We Felt as a Nation and Resurrect It

I remember the morning of September 11, 2001, when I turned on my TV to catch the news before heading off to what turned out to be an evolving far-left job.

On my home screen, I watched as the Twin Towers came tumbling down and people ran for their lives as smoke from the buildings engulfed them. Others weren’t so lucky. Some 2,996 Americans perished from the hijacked planes that terrorists plowed into the World Trade Center.

The Pentagon was also struck by a plane hijacked by terrorists. President Trump plans to visit the Pentagon today to lay a wreath in memory of those 184 brave souls who died at U.S. military headquarters in D.C.

Another 92 fell victim to the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania, another hijacked plane on its way to take out the U.S. Capitol.

Flight 93 was a particularly heroic example of American resolve — and unity — as passengers stormed the cabin in an attempt to halt the hijacking or at least prevent the terrorists from carrying out their mission. Their bravery became the subject of an impactful film titled “United 93.”

In all, the events of that day became the single most horrific act of terrorism in all of world history.

I remember in the aftermath, people hoisted American flags on their homes and hung out red, white and blue lights.

At my small condo in Pasadena, California, I remember burning red, white and blue candles on my outdoor balcony.

People would honk horns on the way to work to remind each other of the event.

Never in my life have I felt the country to be so united, and it took terrorism and horrendous loss of life to achieve it.

Make America Remember Again on this historic and horrific day.
