I saw President Trump on TV over the weekend when he was questioned about the still-high prices of groceries. He immediately went back to an old straw — rather, to old dinosaur remains — and predicted that lower gasoline prices will also lower food prices due to reduced transportation costs.
He’s now predicting $2 a gallon at the pump, with concomitant reductions in across-the-board energy prices. I recall that candidate Trump promised halving gas prices within six months.

Well, that hasn’t happened. I’m not sure about the rest of the country, but I don’t pay much less at the pump. However, I live in the Stolen State, where fuel surcharges pay for useless layers of bureaucracy.
So far, the math doesn’t appear to be on The Donald’s side. I watch business news Monday through Friday, and I can’t recall gasoline going below $60 a barrel since January 20, versus $35 in his first administration.
In totally unrelated news, the president also says Euro leaders will be returning to the White House this week to discuss the Ukraine situation, whose peace prospects seem to have descended almost to zero sans any severe economic or rearmament actions by Trump and the Coalition of the Willing.
Let’s see if Trump again gives Russia a two-week warning or face “severe consequences” if they don’t come to the table.
