President Trump Invokes His Authority to Make Washington, D.C. One Big Beautiful Place to Visit
Rightfully indignant at the sad state the D.C. Mayor and Council have let the nation’s capital descend into, President Trump this morning invoked his authority under Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act to send in his forces to police the place.
“Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of violent youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people, and we’re not going to let it happen anymore,” the president said at the White House press briefing.

The reinforcements will come from various federal agencies including the FBI, ATF, DEA and others, and will include National Guard troops.
Meanwhile, a packed-to-the-gills briefing room was more focused on Trump’s uncoming tête-à-tête with Vladimir Putin over the fate of Ukraine. Trump envisioned two outcomes: No deal and the war goes on, or a concession (a word the Russians would never use) by Putin to continue the dialogue with Zelenskyy and others.
Hopefully, Trump doesn’t pull a Neville Chamberlain and cede a huge swatch of Ukraine to Putin in exchange for some kind of “peace” deal.
Zelenskyy has ruled out any land swaps, but Trump at the presser and on other occasions has said any deal must include a tit-for-tat territorial arrangement.
