President Trump made waves this week in an interview on Newsmax when he threatened to use the “Mother of All Bombs” on Iran. Some equated that to a nuclear device, but it’s actually a weapon developed in 2003 known as the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, quickly dubbed MOAB, or Mother of All Bombs, as it was the most lethal of all non-nuclear devices.
Trump has been saying all along that military strikes against the Islamic Republic are on hold until after the midterm elections, and in the interview, he elaborated.
“Their nuclear is buried under millions of tons of mountain. Now we’re looking at Pickaxe Mountain. We may have to go there…. We’ll take a shot at that one. We’ll knock it out fast.”
Trump basically has a two-month window between the midterms, when Democrats sweep the House of Representatives and may even take over control of the Senate, and January, when the Dems commence impeachment proceedings, to wrap up his military campaign.
Trump ruled out both sending troops into Iran and using nuclear weapons.
