It appears that no president since Jimmy Carter in 1980 has had a lower approval rating than our Donald Trump. On the surface, the two are very different individuals. Trump has always been committed to the Good Life, while Carter was committed to the God Life.
However, two threads tie them together. One is inflation. Though inflation was higher under Carter, Trump’s version is equally devastating to the Average American Family (my caps). The second is Iran. Carter had American hostages being held by Iran. Trump has the world being held hostage by Iran in the form of gasoline shipping embargoes.
Ronald Reagan solved Carter’s Iran imbroglio. Since Trump is only halfway through his second term, it falls upon him to solve the Iran gasoline crisis threatening the world economy. He thinks he can do it through force allied with a blockade of Iranian ships. He hopes, in other words, that economic suffering by the Iranian people will force the regime to its knees.
Or, preferable to our president, there will be an uprising, and a Delcy Rodriquez figure will assume power as a Trump puppet.
As with Carter in 1980, however, Trump faces an election, which so far appears certain to turn the House of Representatives over to the Dems, while also giving the opposition party a window of hope for a similar takeover in the Senate.
In short, Trump had better solve the Iranian puzzle before January 2027, when impeachment proceedings will invariably begin.
