Since the start of the year, Elon Musk — reportedly the world’s first trillionaire — has donated some $366 million to groups supporting Republican candidates in the upcoming midterms. About $276 million of that has come since July 1, as campaigns heated up.

This generosity toward the GOP makes Musk the largest donor so far this year to any cause, party, or individual. The sum also tops the $290 million he donated for the 2024 election.

Some $158 million has gone to the Senate Leadership Fund, which supports Senate candidates. Another $76 million has gone to America PAC, a political action committee Musk founded in 2024. His group’s goal is turning out hard-to-get Republican voters.

“If Democrats take control of Washington and win key gubernatorial and attorney general races this November, then America risks becoming a socialist, woke and borderless country,” according to a America PAC statement.

Other donations by Musk include:

  • $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, the main super PAC for House Republicans

  • $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, a group supporting Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee for Senate in Texas

  • $10 million to the Republican Governors Association

  • $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association
