It was only a little more than a year ago that Mark Cuban, he of “Shark Tank” fame and of billions in assets, said nasty things about Donald Trump in his bid for a second term in the White House. Cuban supported Kamala Harris.
That support was not overlooked today as President Trump and 2024 critic Cuban shared the stage in announcing an expansion of the TrumpRx.gov drug website to include generic drugs. A reporter, during the follow-up Q&A, asked Trump what he thought of being on stage with a notable Harris supporter, and he replied, “He [Cuban] made a mistake.” Cuban smiled at the joke and the reporters laughed along.
“’This has been the greatest breakthrough in lowering health care costs in modern history, but we’re just sort of getting started,” Trump said, calling the expanded TrumpRx the “hottest thing in medicine.” The announcement today adds some 600 generic medications to the site.
Cuban himself also started a low-cost drug company called Cost Plus, and he seemed more than happy to join with Trump in bringing more affordable medications to the American public.
“Everyone wants me to rip on TrumpRx,” Cuban wrote in a recent social media post. “Reality is, it’s saving patients money on IVF [in vitro fertilization] and a few other drugs. A lot of money.”
