There’s nothing new about President Trump threatening Iran with “Back to the Dark Ages” unless they end their aggression (or defense, as they would term it). What’s new is Germany accusing Russia of playing drone games over German territory.
German officials today accused Russia of an attempted drone attack last month at Leipzig/Halle Airport and announced they would summon Moscow’s ambassador to Berlin.
“The means used — such as the drone configuration, components, explosives and detonation systems — are known to us from other hybrid operations by Russia and its war against Ukraine,” explained German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt in assigning the blame on Russia.
Meanwhile, the U.S Central Command and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been engaged in a tit-for-military-tat in the Strait of Hormuz for two straight days. The ignition point was the IRGC’s attempts to re-mine the Strait, along with subsequent attacks on Saudi ships.
Trump threatened catastrophic action if Iran reacted with force to U.S. strikes. “If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!”
The threat is an oft-repeated one, but one that has never been honored — and probably never will be.
