President Trump, in his usual fashion, today declared that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire on striking each other’s energy infrastructure. The only thing is, Vladimir Putin has yet to signal acceptance.
Trump announced on Truth Social: “Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed.”
Mr. President made a similar announcement on September 14, which went unheeded by the warring parties.
This time, Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy signaled his agreement, so long as Russia went along. He wrote on social media: “Ukraine supports the ceasefire, and it is important that Russia support it as well. We are awaiting details from the American side.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s announced agreement with Russia to purchase diesel fuel is drawing criticism from both sides of the aisle. His action, naysaying Senators contend, violates a 2022 law that forbids the importation of Russian oil.
The day before his announced ceasefire, Trump lashed out at Zelenskyy and called for him to resign. He blamed the Ukrainian leader for the rise in fuel prices.
