With U.S. troops on the way to the Middle East, President Trump’s choices post-April 6, the deadline he set yesterday for Iran to come to their senses on negotiations, appear to be — in addition to continuing the ongoing air strikes — taking control of Kharg Island, securing the Strait of Hormuz, and obliterating Iran’s electrical grid. The latter, of course, is what Trump is officially delaying with his 10-day negotiations window.
Taking Kharg would cripple Iran’s economy, as that is where 90 percent of its oil shipments originate. Opening the Strait would entail taking control of the Iranian islands situated there. Including grids away, all three options could be exercised at the same time.
As for talks with the U.S., which the president claims are “productive,” Iran counters that “Trump is negotiating with himself.” Of course, nothing Trump has done in office has ever been anything exxcept “productive” or “very good,” if you listen to Trump’s day-to-day assessments.
“As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time,” the president wrote on social media.
The talks are real, the president maintains, and anything reported otherwise is “Fake News,” though official statements from Iran that it is not negotiating could not really be termed “fake.”
If Trump is threatening energy destruction on or after April 6, then he will probably stick to his word, unless President TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) shows up in his stead. Recall his “Midnight Hammer” strike on Iranian nuclear facilities following a previous negotiating deadline.
Of the three options detailed above, my humble recommendation would be to go for all of them, or perhaps just do the bombing and send in the troops to recover Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, an option I forgot to include earlier.
Anyway, please leave the salsa in the kitchen cabinet, Mr. President, and show Iran and the world that you mean business. If not, Russia and China might be emboldened to carry out territorial adventures on their own. Goodbye, Taiwan and the Baltic States.
