I remember those heady days of authoritarian rule during the so-called pandemic in 2020-2022 (or beyond) that was attributed to a virus known as COVID-19.
We were told to stay at home, wear masks if we ever dared venture outside, and finally, to get some unproven vaccinations or be considered an outlaw.
The mask mandate reminded me of the Dark Ages and the bubonic plague when clergy and others would wear beak-shaped masks to protect against the plague (pictured above). nonsense then and even more nonsensical in our era, another lesson never learned.
Now, if you recall our national nightmare, there was an individual named Dr. Anthony Fauci who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and who also dominated the airways throughout the ordeal. More than anyone else, he was responsible for spreading the heavy hand of government into the life of almost every American (except those who were lucky enough to live in more MAGA-leaning states).
Worse, it was he who funded through his agency what is called “gain of function” research in a Chinese lab in Wuhan, PRC.
Now, gain of function means to take a virus and increase its abilities, or functions, in other words, to make it deadlier. On TV yesterday, Dr. Robert Redfield, who was head of the U.,S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during COVID, said he believes that all gain of function research should be defunded and stopped.
Now, interestingly, as head of the CDC Dr. Redfield should have been the government’s primary spokesperson during the so-called pandemic, but Fauci couldn’t control his ego or his desire for fame.
I bring all this up because the Trump administration has revised COVID.gov, the website detailing the origins and hisstory of the COVID outbreak. The opening page says simply, “Lab Leak,” with a picture of Donald Trump hovering above.
Remember it was President Trump who maintained from the beginning that COVID came from a lab leak in Wuhan. He persistently and consistently called COVID “the China Virus,” which drove anit-Trumpers mad as hell and not willing to take it anymore. The media listened to — and quoted — only Dr. Foul-chee.
In the waning days of the Biden administration, either he or his autopen pardoned Fauci of any federal crimes. However, states and individuals can still launch actions. I’d love to see a class action lawsuit demanding damages from Fauci for the pain, loss and suffering inflicted on the American people.
May he enjoy his retirement and keep his trap shut till dealth do part him from us.
