The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, spearheaded by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., should no doubt approve of one of the nation’s favorite cookies going a bit healthier with the introduction of a sugar-free version in 2026. Oreos are set to become the new darling of MAHA
The new iteration has been tested in China and elsewhere and is now ready for its U.S. debut come the New Year.
“With Oreo Zero Sugar, you can indulge in the signature Oreo taste now without the sugar!” reads the product’s description. “Oreo Zero Sugar offers the classic taste of Oreo, while allowing you to keep your health & wellness goals.”
Actually, the concept of eliminating sugar in Oreos predates MAHA and Kennedy. Mondelez International, owner of the brand, has spent four years perfecting the product.
The sugar substitute is composed of four ingredients, one of them being Maltitol, a type of sugar alcohol that’s also found in some fruits and vegetables.
Maybe instead of a sugar rush, you can now get an alcohol high by eating Oreos.
