In a meeting Monday at the White House (April 14, 2025) with President Donald Trump, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele — he of the megaprison so favored by the Trump crew — was asked if he would release and return Kilmar Ábrego García. who according to leftist claims was illegally deported.
Responding to a question from CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Bukele shot back: “The question is preposterous: how can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.”
The Supreme Court recently ruled that the Trump Administration should “facilitate” the return of Garcia.
Though some claim Garcia’s name was erroneously included among those to be deported to the megaprison in El Salvador, Trump himself has questioned that, even if that assertion were true, returning him would only mean the U.S. would immediately have to deport him back for being here illegally and being a member of the MS-13 gang.
