Rubio Passes Trump Urgent Note about an Israeli-Hamas Deal on Release of the Hostages

During a roundtable about countering Antifa, President Trump was interrupted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who handed him a note announcing a deal for the release of the hostages being held held in Gaza was “very close.” The note read:

“You need to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.”

Trump soone thereafter took to Truth Social:

“This [agreement] means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace,” Trump wrote, affirming that “All Parties will be treated fairly!”

Terms of any forthcoming deal between Israel and Hamas, however, remain sketchy and mired in diplomatic limbo.

In news announced prior to the note-passing, Trump said he is likely to travel to Egypt at the end of the week to finalize a deal. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later clarified that the trip would likely be on Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that it was a “great day for Israel,” but has repeatedly warned that Hamas must disarm for the Israeli offensive to end.
