President TACO Wins Iran Debate

TACO

My apologies to the great nation of Mexico and its citizens for my portrayal of President Trump in a sombrero with a mariachi band serenading him, but I wanted to get across the idea that President TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out) has won the debate over how to help the protestors in Iran topple their government.

Days after saying “help is on the way” following earlier comments that U.S. might was “locked and loaded” and ready to help Iranian protestors, Trump and his presidential pomp and circumstance ended with a whimper this morning when his administration announced further sanctions against the Mullahs’ terrorism and oppression machine.

We should’ve known yesterday, when Trump announced that “the killings have stopped” of protestors in Iran, that he was withdrawing the threat of a military response to provide “help.”

I witnessed that comment live on TV and also a comment on European television by the Israeli defense minister that his country was gearing up to assist the U.S. in ending the regime in Iran. This indicated that military action was forthcoming. The defense minister, unfortunately, had taken Trump’s earlier comments and preliminary military preparations too seriously.

Today, newscasts said an “uneasy calm” had settled over Iran. President TACO thus has got what he wanted — “peace for our time” in the Neville Chamberlain-ian sense of putting off the inevitable.

My guess is that Trump’s pulling back from the military option stemmed from two factors. The first, and the minor one, is that U.S. forces are stretched thin and focused mainly on Venezuela. The second, and the major one, is that Trump was overwhelmed by objections from naysaying investors in the Middle East, who are compiling a healthy portfolio for the Trump family, led by son-in-law Jared Kushner.

My question: How come we have enough military strength to carry out strikes against radical Islamic terror groups in Syria and Nigeria, but lack the guts to cut off the head of the snake in Tehran?
