Holy Cow! What a C-Change at CBS News as It Acquires The Free Press and Its Editor, Bari Weiss

CBS News is bringing to the helm a journalist who was mocked while she worked at The New York Times for her contrarian, i.e., sometimes conservative, viewpoints. That person is Bari Weiss, founder and CEO of the website, The Free Press.

CBS is also acquiring The Free Press as part of the transaction.

An announcement from CBS regarding the move yesterday read: “The combination brings together CBS News’ scale and reach with The Free Press’ culture-shaping voice and innovative spirit, united in the pursuit of setting a new standard for trusted journalism in America.”

Added David Ellision, CEO of CBS parent Paramount/Skydance, added: “Bari is a proven champion of independent, principled journalism, and I am confident her entrepreneurial drive and editorial vision will invigorate CBS News. This move is part of Paramount’s bigger vision to modernize content and the way it connects — directly and passionately — to audiences around the world.”
