Ghost of Neville Chamberlain Comes Out of Hiding and Stalks the White House Once Again

Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Week (or Two) came to an abrupt end with a phone call to Vladimir Putin, followed by Russia’s largest drone barrage on Kyiv yet.

After the call with the Russian dictator, Trump ho-humly proclaimed, “He’s not there yet.” But he was and is — all there over the map of Ukraine with death and destruction as he presses his military campaign to engulf the entire nation.

It seems to me that Trump just figures that “this is Biden’s war,” so whatever happens is his predecessor’s doing.

Partially true, of course, but one would hope as leader of the Free World that you’d ask yourself why Putin isn’t afraid of the U.S. or any consequences it might unleash on Russia if the war doesn’t at least come to a much-needed ceasefire.

Now, I am certainly not advocating any military action against Russia. That indeed would lead to WWIII.

One wonders, however, where Trump’s finely crafted image of someone not to be messed with has gone when it comes to Putin, and probably Xi as well.

It doesn’t help that we’ve ceased, or at least paused, arms shipments to Ukraine, and have so far, nearly six months into Trump’s presidency, somehow not put in place a single additional sanction on Russia.

Is Ukraine to become the 21 Century’s Sudetenland?

Stay tuned, and we will all find out.
