Though on Friday President Trump announced that his proposed 28-point peace plan for Ukraine was not the final version, today he bristled when European leaders had the gall to announce they have a different approach in mind.

The EU (European Union) representatives and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy were meeting in Geneva, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in attendance.

Rubio actually proclaimed the interchange to be productive. pointing out that the gathered leaders were “making some changes, some adjustments in the hopes of further narrowing the differences and getting closer to something that both Ukraine and obviously the United States are very comfortable with.”

Trump was not so sanguine. On Truth Social he called the war a “loser” and accused Ukraine of showing no gratitude for the help the U.S. has provided in the conflict. He implied that EU leaders were being hypocritical by still buying oil from Russia.

Zelenskyy and EU leaders have spoken out against the Trump plan as being too Russian. On X, Zelenskyy wrote:

“The crux of the entire diplomatic situation is that it was Russia, and only Russia, that started this war, and it is Russia, and only Russia, that has been refusing to end it throughout the full-scale invasion.”

The Ukrainian leader, however, did respond to Trump’s accusation of ingratitude by posting: “Ukraine is grateful to the United States, to every American heart, and personally to President Trump” for U.S. assistance.
