‘Don’t Mess with Qatar’ Is the Message and Motivation Behind the Trump 20-Point Peace Plan Now in Phase One
As I wrote before, it wasn’t until Israel tried to take out Hamas leaders in Qatar that President Trump got serious about coming up with a plan for peace in Gaza — and hopefully for the whole Middle East.
The Trump administration would argue with justification that Qatar is an important ally that allows a huge U.S. military presence on its soil.

All true enough, but after the Israeli Qatari bombing, Trump got his dander up and demanded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologize to Qatari leaders. When he did so in the White House, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner helped draft and approve the apology.
Why was Kushner so involved? Trump later cited his experience and negotiating ability when he sent him to Egypt to work on peace plans for Gaza, but there is a lot behind the scenes.
When he was part of Kushner Companies with his father, Charles, Jared was a principal in the purchase of 666 Fifth Avenue for a cool $1.8 billion in the period before the Great Recession. When the recession hit, the Fifth Avenue property became something of a financial red herring.
Kushner was eventually able to secure financing from Qatar while he was a senior advisor to Trump 45, which involved an economic blockage of the country of which he was part and parcel
Later, after Kushner was instrumental in the Abraham Accords (for which Donald pined for a Nobel Peace Prize that never materialized), he got a #1.2 billion investment from Qatar, along with R2 billion from Saudi Arabia to form a venture called Affinity Partners.
And guess where Affinity has a major investment stake, in addition to start-up funding? Qatar.
In other words, mess with Qatar and you mess with Trump and his son-in-law, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka.
In this case, messing with Qatar actually led to a positive outcome with the Trumpian 20-Point Plan for Middle Eastern peace.
But henceforth, “Don’t mess with Qatar,” or the results won’t be so positive.
