Indeed, that is probably the primary reason TikTok remains operational. If you recall, Congress passed a bill in late 2024 to outlaw the site unless it were turned over to American control.
When Trump took office, he used a measure in the bill to extend the TikTok sale deadline for 30 days. Let’s see, it’s now been nine months, and TikTok is still thriving and accessible for millions of U.S. users.
Now comes word that trade negotiations with China in Madrid have resulted in a deal for TikTok to be transferred to U.S. ownership and control.
Supposedly, the deal will be sealed with a phone call between Trump and Xi Jinping of China on Friday.
