Yesterday, the mainstream meda, including the Wall Street Journal, refused to report on a former FBI director, James Comey, who figuratively and no doubt knowlingly called for the assassination of Donald Trump by posting a photo of seashells arranged to show “8647” — take Trump eight miles out and bury him six feet under.
Today, Axios obtained segments of the recorded tapes of the interivew that Special Counsel Robert Hur conducted with Presidential Surrogate Joe Biden in 2023, and then performed a huge journalistic shoulder shug. (The interview, to recall. was conducted because classified documents had been found in Biden’s home, documents that he was unauthorized to possess.)
Wriites Axios on its website: “The audio … appears to validate Hur’s assertion that jurors in a trial likely would have viewed Biden as ‘a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory’.” Later, Axios notes, “… overall he [Biden] was engaged in the interview.”
Ho, hum, no big deal. The White House made the right decision in not releasing the tapes: “The audio surfaces as Democrats and the national media are grappling with the legacy of Biden’s White House and campaign hiding his decline as he ran for another four-year term at age 81.”
Other than that, the fact that a so-called sitting president couldn’t even remember when his eldest son died, or when his predecessor, Donald Trump, was elected — well, no big deal.
As all this unfolded on conservative TV and talk shows, something occured to me that happened in 2020 when Biden was running for president. Ex-President Barack Obama said to the Delaware politician: “You don’t have to do this, Joe” [run for president].
Obama obviously knew the man was unfit for service, but then later took advantage of it by having his own surrogates — and himself personally no doubt — run the country for the next four years by manipulating a puppet president.
And these same people call Watergate the nation’s biggest political scandal and the protestors on January 6, 2021, in the nation’s capital a bunch of “insurrectionists.”
