Marjorie Taylor Greene Trumps Trump by Resigning from Congress

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Congresswoman from Georgia, long a thorn in the Demofiends’ side, found herself on the wrong side of Donald Trump with her insistent call for the release of all Epstein documents.

Once a solid MAGA supporter and confidante of President Trump, Greene today announced her resignation from Congress effective January 5, 2026.

Her resignation will leave a void in the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold a paper-thin majority and where her outspokenness often shed an important light on the issues of the day.

In a video on X, Greene announced:

“I have too much self-respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms.”

Her phrase about “likely lose the midterms” makes her look like both a predictor and a quitter.

Trump, who recently vowed to sponsor a primary challenge to Greene, responded to an ABC News reporter by saying of Greene’s announcement: “I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great.”
