Legendary French Actor Gérard  Depardieu Gets a Slap on the Wrist for Sexual Assault

Famed French actor Gérard  Depardieu has received an 18-month suspended sentence in a French court for sexually assaulting two women on a set in 2021. He was convicted of groping a 54-year-old woman responsible for decorating the set and a 34-year-old assistant during the filming of Les Volets Verts (The Green Shutters). He was also ordered to pay a total of 29,040 euros ($32.512) to the two women.

C’est si bon for the actor with a long career in film. He can now go his merry way after using some pocket change to pay off the assaulted women.

American filmgoers may have seen him in “La Vie en Rose,” the biopic of Edith Piaf. Other films Americans may have seen Depardieu playing a part include “The Last Metro” and “Cyrano Bergerac,” among others.

Meanwhile in New York, the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs on sex trafficking charges is underway. Many predict he will get off altogether. He faces five charges, including not only sex trafficking but also transporting women for prostitution.

His case gained notoriety when a video that showed him beating and dragging his girlfirend Cassie Rodriguez in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 was obtained by CNN.
