Pima County Sheriff Breaks His Silence — Big Mistake

Pima

The last thing the nation needed was to see the prevaricating, bumbling Pima County Sheriff, by the name of Chris Nanos, on TV again.

Sheriff since 2020, Nanos is now overseeing (stretch your imagination, please) the hunt for Nancy Guthrie, missing two weeks ago as of early Sunday morning, or perhaps Saturday night.

He spoke with Fox News local and national today, gussied up in what looked like a British Racing Green golfing shirt, unveiling three major revelations: 1) contrary to media reports, no glove was found inside Nancy Guthrie’s home, 2) DNA, however, was discovered but not shared with the FBI, and 3) everything is going hunky dory with the folks from the FBI, again despite media reports to the contrary.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s website, “Throughout his career Sheriff Nanos has maintained a strong emphasis on his work in Criminal Investigations, particularly Violent Crimes, Sex Crimes, and Narcotics Interdiction.”

Nanos does have a lengthy career, having joined the department in 1974, but as for his reported strengths, those seem to be hiding from view during this particular missing-persons case.

He hasn’t held a news conference in a week, and it took him almost two weeks to admit that there was DNA evidence. His last televised presser consisted largely of his extending sympathy toward Nancy Guthrie’s family, including TV newscaster Samantha Guthrie.

I’m sorry, but today he looked too relaxed and uninvolved in his golf-shirt interview (where’s your uniform on Friday, sheriff?) for me to think he has a handle on the situation.

Was he elected? Can he be recalled?
