Whither Gen-Z protests? The latest in a string of youth protests has toppled its first European government, that of Bulgaria. Earlier, Gen-Z rampages have brought down governments in Nepal and Madagascar. Similar protests in the Philippines and Tanzania were met with lethal force.
The Bulgarian demonstrations were brought on by corruption in government and by a newly released budget that would raise taxes and increase spending. The government of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov was forced to resign before the budget could even be voted on.

“Vox populi, vox dei,” Zhelyazkov said in announcing the downfall of his center-right government — “the voice of the people is the voice of god.”
Odds are that it’s almost impossible to find a government that isn’t corrupt in one or many ways, and it’s a refreshing sign to see a younger generation willing to take on corrupt politicians and corrupt institutions. The question is, where will all this lead?
Often, youth are filled with Marxist ideals. I know I was after graduation from college. Even while serving in Vietnam, I remained a firm believer in Marxism. It wasn’t until later that I realized that Marxist, i.e., communist, governments are the most corrupt and repressive of all.
Meanwhile, the leftward momentum of politics has seen communists elected in New York City and Seattle. Worse, if you’re a Republican in Congress, the signs all point toward a Demofiend majority in the House come 2027.
First order of business, of course, will be to impeach (multiple times, probably) President Trump, along with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Refusal to fund ICE will probably be on the table as well.
Trump and the MAGAistas better pray for a robust economic rebound in 2026, or the vox populi may make lame ducks of the president and his supporters in government.
