Question: Does Trump’s Obsession with Venezuela Stem from Nobel Peace Prize Envy?

TrumpOcean

This year’s recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, was unable to make the ceremony in Oslo, Norway, to receive her award. Instead, her daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, accepted in her place.

Machado, who may now find herself forever in exile from her native country, was finally able to sneak out of Venezuela by boat a day before the ceremony, and was in Curaçao when her daughter accepted the prize on her behalf. Her country’s ruling dictator, Nicolás Maduro, will no doubt prevent Machado’s return.

This is all context for my question of the day: Do you think Trump’s obsession with Venezuela stems from envy over not receiving this year’s Nobel Peace Prize?

Trump, of course, has been quite vocal about the Peace Prize since his first term and the signing of the Abraham Accords, bringing four Middle Eastern countries to recognize Israel’s right to exist. The UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan all signed onto the agreement. Saudi Arabia was said to be ready to join the accords when Hamas invaded Israel in 2023.
